Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Aldo Formiconi has established a relationship with photography since a very early age.

He spent most of his youth in Rome, where he was exposed to the marvels of Italian culture. Then, while obtaining his degree in Mechanical Engineering at Northeastern University in Boston, he developed a passion and a deep interest for the art of photography.

Later on, while working in Venezuela, he combined his engineering background with his artistic manner of photographing and was able to produce unique photographs of petrol-chemical operations for such companies as Hitachi, Ferrostal, Bechtel, and PDVSA.

Throughout the years, he has travelled widely to places as remote as the interior of Zimbabwe in Africa and Havana, Cuba, searching for the essence of each place, driven by his deep interest in portraits.

Schooled in the traditional arts of medium and large format cameras, he has integrated the new advances in technology to develop a special style, an expression individual to each image. Overall, each photograph shows his endless search for the opportunity to record in an extremely sensitive manner, the behavior of color, light and shade in constant relationship with human action as well as the atmosphere of certain spaces.
